#1 - She’s Got Guts
The first instance that we are going to visit in this article is that of a woman who ate an object, and had to have surgery to remove said object. After the surgery, the incision was stapled closed, and she was returned back to her room for rest and recovery. The nurse of the mental health institution, that had worked at the same facility for over five years, heard a scream come from the patient’s room that previously had the surgery to remove the object. When the nurse came into the room of the patient she witnessed the patient holding her insides on her outside… she was holding her intestines in her own hands, because she had ripped open the stitches from her incision and reached in to grab her own intestines.
#2 - The Replacement Baby
In one insane asylum, there was one woman patient that was elderly. This elderly woman carried around a toy baby doll everywhere she went, and as far as this woman was concerned the toy baby doll was a real child. Not only this, but she considered it to be her own. She even provided stories recounting the time in which she gave birth to said child. It turns out that this woman, at one point in her life, had a child that unfortunately passed away in a car accident along with her husband. She would often yell at nurses and employees that they were “driving too fast”, and that they were going to ruin everything good in her life.
#3 - The Man Who Cried Snakes
In another asylum for insane people, there was a patient that was thoroughly convinced that he was being attacked at night time by snakes that would drop in from the ceiling in his room. It turns out that the patient was pinching his own skin, in order to draw blood and make it look as if there were snake bites all over his body. The patient was not fully aware that he was doing this to himself, and he was entirely convinced that there were truly snakes coming from his ceiling and attacking him and that this is where the wounds were coming from
#4 - Clean Eyes
There was another patient in a different insane asylum that put hand sanitizer in her eyes, and actually ate tissues. She did this every chance she was given, therefore, the staff in the asylum had to do their very best to keep this patient away from any and all hand sanitizer as well as tissues. If the patient got a hold of any of these there would be a real issue for her health. She even put the hand sanitizer in her own cuts and scrapes on purpose.
#5 - “They Crunched Just Like Baby Carrots”
This next specific person that we will talk about in this article is a patient that was heard, laughing hysterically from their room. When the employees of the asylum came in to see what the commotion was about they witnessed the patient holding his hand up in the air and laughing very loud. When the workers asked what was going on, the patient replied, “they crunched just like baby carrots”. The patient had eaten four of his own fingers off of his hand, and this was what he was referencing.
#6 - It Better Be Pudding for Dinner
There was a patient in one asylum that was known to cause self-harm on a regular occasion. While this self-harm was usually of the superficial sense, in ripping out her own hair until she had no more on top of her head, there was a more permanently physically altering outcome fast approaching. This patient, at one point, ripped out most of her own teeth with her own hands. When the nurse found her she was sitting in the middle of her room with blood all around her on the floor and several teeth as well. They had found that she had actually swallowed many of her own teeth, and only had a few left.
#7 - Who Needs 2?
One patient in an insane asylum had unfortunately acquired brain damage that had the direct effect on making her feel the need to eat nearly anything and everything around her. Most of the things that she often ate were not food items, but were things such as paper and fabric instead. One day, she was found to have eaten her own eyeball…
I will just leave it at that for this one…
The Different Places We Find an Asylum for Insane Individuals
In Venezuela, there is an insane asylum, or a psychiatric hospital known as Lidice Hospital. In this psychiatric hospital, they have gone without electricity for years at a time in darkness. It certainly presents itself to not only a high scare factor for those that witness it, but the patients themselves as well. Some of the patients’ beds are put directly onto the floor with only a mattress no sheets, pillows or blankets are provided, and the mattress itself is put in the middle of a room with nothing else in it. There is a little to no psychiatric help offered to the patients and the patients consider themselves inmates rather than actual psychiatric patients in a hospital. At one point in this asylum, a security guard was actually killed by a patient. Patient also often kill each other in this insane asylum. Food is scarce and they often do not have any medicine for the patients in Stock. Being that this asylum is in the pitch black with violent patients. This is a dangerous and scary place to be for anyone.
In Bali, there is a mental health facility that could be considered as one of the worst insane asylums in the world. There is a patient at this location that is restrained for months at a time in a crudely made stockade in which a rotted wood beam holds down the man’s ankles in a way that does not allow him to move. In fact, the man that is held within the stockade has not left the one room that he is in for over 30 years. A minimum of 50 other individuals are held in one place for long periods of time by makeshift shackles and stockades in the same fashion. There are several individuals that are chained by their ankles to a wall in dark rooms without clothing. These patients are clearly malnourished without proper treatment and left to sit and lay next to their own fecal matter. There are also patients locked in cages that look to resemble old Timey crudely fashioned animal zoo, cages.
