#1 - Spider & Spider Web

Technical term: Flat Piercing

You can’t really beat a good tattoo and piercing combo like this. The tiny little spider piercing coupled with the spiderweb tattoo moves down from the top of the ear. Chef’s kiss to this design and execution. There are tons of ideas out there, and this had to make the first appearance on our list for this article so you could see it if you didn’t even see any more. It will for sure spark the creativity inside of you, or maybe you will just simply choose to copy this design. Either way, you are going to look awesome!

#2 - Split Earlobe Double Pierced

This person was actually born with a split earlobe, but you can have it done if you really wanted to. They pulled off the look and took ownership of the way they were born. It looks great! If you choose to get your earlobe split or it splits due to your gauge blowing out or your earring getting ripped out, you can then add even more personality to it with some of the other piercing ideas in this article. Maybe pair this look with one of the ones later down the list at the #11 spot called “Connected Handcuffs”. That would look really cool.

#3 - Hanging from the Top

Technical term: Helix Piercing

This is adorable, dude! It is unique for sure, you don’t see a lot of people walking around town with this ear piercing. Maybe it would be annoying to sleep in on that side of your head, but it looks so good that it may just be worth it. It looks like a tiny little necklace for the top of your ear. This piercing is elegant and classy, but at the same time shows off your unique personality and body modification rebelliousness. One of the only ways to have the best of both worlds is clearly right here in this beautiful little piece of piercing art.

#4 - In Front of the Ear

Technical term: Surface Tragus

This Surface Tragus looks really good on almost everyone. It is such a unique place to put a piercing, and it is close enough to the ear to call it an ear piercing. When is the last time you saw someone with this one? Chances are if you have seen it in person at all, it was only once. You will stand out for sure with a piercing like this one, and it will go well with other piercings that you have or are planning to get in the future as well. Having a piercing in such a unique location is nice because you don’t have to go out of your way to purchase a unique piece of jewelry. The piercing itself is already unique enough to stand out with its placement alone.

This is a difficult piercing to complete as a piercer, so make sure you vet your artist really well.

#5 - A Whole Lot of Gold

Of course, this setup doesn’t have to be completed with all gold and only gold. The actual piercing placements and styles on their own are unique and cool, but it makes it even more of a stand-out accessory setup having it done in all gold. The conch piercing that loops in through the gauge stretch is a nice touch and very unique. The upper lobe piercing with 6 small hoops through it is cool on its own, but then they added a dangling earring off of those as well. There is so much going on in this setup, that you could look at it for 10 whole minutes and still find new parts of it that you like. While you may usually see piercings that are slightly on the unique side and stand out from the normal, such as the hoop through a gauge stretch, this setup has multiple different aspects that blow that out of the water. There are at least 10 different holes in this one ear alone. You have to be really dedicated to the art in order to go the distance on this one. Don’t shy away from this one. If you are a bold personality, this one is a go-big or go-home setup. It will most likely take several different trips to the piercer over the span of a few days, I’m sure.

#6 - Simple and Cute

Technical term: Helix Piercing

Art is all about expression, and tattoos and piercings are all about the expression of your personality. If you are a more reserved personality and enjoy the smaller simpler things in life, this one will suit you well. Even if it is not a star, the fact that it is one tiny little piece of jewelry all by itself is a peaceful sight to see. Getting a stand-alone piercing like this on the helix or flat really accentuates the isolated design of the piercing.

#7 - Animal Bone

This one is different than the rest of the piercings in this article. It is not on this list because of its piercing location or style in which it is implemented, but because of the actual jewelry choice itself. The addition of something that was once living as a piece of jewelry on your body sure brings a tribal feeling and a warrior spirit. It is macabre and closely related to taxidermy. This is, of course, one of our favorites at Chelsidermy. The cool part about this piece, as far as customization goes, is the freedom to choose different animals and/or different parts of those animals that you choose. Maybe in one earring, you choose to use the jaw of a squirrel, but in another earring, you choose to use a chicken’s foot for good luck. If you are superstitious this is a wonderful way to look good and have good luck at the same time.

#8 - A Dozen Hoops Together

The obvious part of this piercing setup that stands out the most is towards the top of the ear. It looks like the entire portion that is referred to as the helix piercing is opened in a similar fashion to a gauge. Filling it in with a whole bunch of smaller hoops is a really nice look. It doesn’t look like too much and it avoids making the ear look too busy. At the same time, it provides a unique aspect to the ear piercing setup and covers a good portion of personality and art.

This gives you a great opportunity to play with different colors and color combinations as well as the types of earrings that you choose to use for this specific setup. Just like anything else with this topic of body modifications, you can find new and exciting ways to make it your very own. Making it uniquely yours on top of already being a unique piercing in itself is a beautiful way to express yourself with jewelry. After all, that is what ear piercings are all about.

Make sure you understand, before making the decision to pursue this type of piercing, that anything cartilage usually takes around a year to heal and is incredibly painful. Make sure you take that into consideration and see if it is worth it to you or not.

#9 - Small Hoops Around the End of a Stretch

Here is an ear piercing set up for those that are a little bit more hardcore than some of the others. This is pretty metal. The inner conch is pierced with a larger piece of jewelry, but the part that stands out to me the most is the decision to put small hoops on the end of the gauge stretch. I have seen some other ear-piercing set ups that include a larger hanging weighted piece on the end of the stretch, but not too often do you see smaller hoops at the end like this.

This is the way that you can make slight changes to usual piercings and make them your own. The availability of nuanced detail oriented ways that you can switch things up with this art form is what makes it such an incredible form of expression. We all want to be the only us in the world, and this is one more way that you can choose to take that destiny into your own hands. Make things exactly the way you want them to be and go against the grain whenever you need to in order to make it happen. It will pay off for you.

#10 - A Bunch of Dangling Earrings

Well, this one certainly has some flavor to it. It is oddly aesthetically pleasing to see so many short dangling earrings on one ear like this. Not only is the uniformed approach to filling out the outside of the ear all the way up with jewelry nice to see, but the fact that it is done with hanging jewelry makes it that much more special.

The amazing opportunity that this provides you with is being able to mix and match birthstones and other specific stones for your feelings and emotions on any given day. Whatever type of day youre having, you can easily match that with a stone that either suites it or helps you during that time period. You can choose colors that match with clothing or add some difference to it. You have the option of using symbols, different lengths, different metals, and so much more. What a great way to provide yourself with a seemingly endless number of choices in one ear piercing set up. You can choose to pierce all over the ear, or up the ear in an ordered and oddly satisfying manner like this.

#11 - Connected Handcuffs

This is a little bit different, but not so different that you would feel out of place anywhere you went. This would even be acceptable in most professional settings. It gives a little bit of personality in both the actual jewlery piece itself and the way in which it connects the two piercing holes on your ear.

#12 - Dangling Art Resin

The standout piece in this set up is the gauge earrings that have a jellyfish design inside of them. The color is gorgeous and matches so well with the design of the ocean creature featured in the jewelry. Slight bubbles inside of the resin, clear blue liquidly look, and the really cool jelly fish design inside all fit so perfectly together. The added plus side by way of matching with iridescent jewelry around the other areas of the ear adds to the overall effect. If you live on the beach, it is so great as a piece that you wear to go swimming and kicking it in the sand all day. Maybe you don’t live near the beach, and you are just hanging out at the pool, and you want a look that fits well with your mood and activities that day. This is a beautiful piece no matter what you wear it for.

Check them out here.

#13 - Dangling Gauges

Don’t you just love gauge earrings that are also dangly? It really is like having your cake and wearing it too. The best of both worlds, there are actually a lot of different options out there that fit this specific sub-genre of ear piercings. This one in particular is a sword, so if you are into medieval times stuff or Viking things this is a perfect fit for you. Maybe you are going to a medieval renaissance fair and need the perfect earring to fit the occasion. In any case, the link to find this specific piece is below.

#14 - A lot of Small Hoops in One Hole

This is another one of those ones where it is a person using a very normal and widely seen piercing in a different and unique way. Having many small hoop earrings in one hole is a standout way to use a normal and average piercing small. The best part about this is that you don’t have to go out and buy any new pieces or anything like that. You can simply use what you already have in your house, because you are sure to already have many small hoop earrings that you can use for this set up.

#15 - The Most Unique Guage Earrings Ever

This one is one of the most unique pieces around. It looks so awesome! Even the fact that it is clear is a positive point because it lets the actual design of the earring shine as the primary draw to the piece. The opening of the actual stretch itself instead of putting something inside of the stretch is a nice touch and makes more sense to the brain. It is one of those oddly satisfying things that just make sense and feels right once you see them in action. It surely comes in different colors and materials as well so there is so much you could do with this design and mix and match other things in your piercing set up.
