So, what is the weirdest Pokémon? That would have to be Rotom. This little guy is both an electric type and ghost type Pokémon that was first seen in generation 4. Each type plays its own role in making this strange little ghostly Pokémon the all-time most bizarre Pokémon ever designed. It’s not only looks that make Rotom the strangest Pokémon, but also mainly the weird things that it is capable of doing that set it apart from the rest of the crowd.
This particular Pokémon doesn’t have any evolutions, but it is able to posses house hold appliances. Yes, you heard that strange fact correctly, Rotom takes over the motors of household appliances and gains new moves from doing so. Not only this, but his shape and design also become that of the object in which it possesses with its color scheme and face as the primary addition.
While Pokémon evolutions are general of decent importance to each Pokémon, this Plasma Pokémon changes the status quo in order to make his own rules to the game. Looking like the appliance is not where this weird and wonderful power stops. Rotom also gains special moves based on the thing he takes over.
Heat Rotom – This version of Rotom learns the move “Overheat”. It is considered to be an electric/fire type pokemon when in this form.
Wash Rotom - This version of Rotom knows “Hydro Pump”. It is an electric/water type pokemon in this form.
Frost Rotom - This version of the pokemon knows the move “Blizzard”. Electric/ice is the type of pokemon that it is categorized as when in this form.
Fan Rotom – This version of Rotom knows “Air Slash”. In this form, Rotom is an electric/flying type pokemon.
Mow Rotom - This version of Rotom knows the move called “Leaf Storm”. Rotom is considered an electric/grass pokemon when taking this form.
As you can see, in these forms that Rotom takes, it is able to change its Pokémon type with whatever different appliance or electric device it possesses. This is one of the few Pokémon in the many games that is able to do something like this.
Rotom is also able to posses a smart phone and become what is known as the “Rotom Phone”, as well as being able to be used as a pokedex.
There are 18 types of Pokémon in the games, and Rotom is able to take the form 1/3 of those canonically. Rotom has been confirmed to take the form of 6/18 of the types of Pokémon but is said to be able to take more than that in theory.

Rock Type – A jackhammer would be easy for Rotom to take over, and then it would be able to create havoc on Earth structures.
Ground Type – Once Rotom is done destroying roadways and rock cliffs, it can suck up all of the pebbles and dirt as a vacuum. This would give it the ability to perform sand attacks with what it has collected.
Dark Type – The obvious, possessing a computer, would be the best option for Rotom to become a dark type Pokémon. This would give it the ability to corrupt data and make changes to many things in a malicious way.
Steel Type – Rotom would become a chainsaw in order to fit into this category of Pokémon. The steel blade would surely be able to do a lot of damage to its opponents.
Poison Type – Possessing a food blender would allow Rotom to poison people and Pokémon alike with the ingredients it chooses to add into its concoction.
Fairy Type – If Rotom possess a scent diffusor, it would be able to release smells that could put other Pokémon to sleep with ease. Calming them and relaxing them in order to avoid the fight all together.
Bug Type – You will have to use your imagination for this class of pokemon, as bugs are living creatures and not machines or electronics. Rotom might be able to posses a Volkswagen Beetle and you could use a funny little pun.
Fighting Type – Rotom could take the form of new age workout equipment in order to best fit the fighting type Pokémon. After all, building muscle and getting faster is what fighting type Pokémon are all about.
Dragon Type – An airplane is the best option for Rotom to possess, but again, dragons are living creatures; so it will be hard to legitimately find a perfect fit for this category.
What Region Does Rotom Come From?
Old Chateau, a Japanese forest manor, is the first location that Rotom was found in the games. This deserted mansion is close to the way out of the Eterna Forest. This location is known for its many ghost type Pokémon in and around its grounds.
