Happy birthday dr seuss

First of all, we want to say happy birthday to Dr. Seuss, because as I am writing this article right now it is his birthday. So, our best thoughts go out to this American icon, and we are thankful for all he has done for our children and the fictional world in general. What a creative and amazing brain on this guy!

Theodor Seuss Geisel:

On March 2, 2023 we celebrate the birth of Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, once again. He was a cartoon artist and completed more than 60 books for children that became so famous that they even have their own entire area inside of the Universal Studios theme park. He was born in Springfield Massachusetts USA and was married to Helen Palmer.

It’s not as widely known, but Theodor also had other pen names that he used over the course of his life. Dr. Seuss also went by the names Theo LeSieg, Rosetta Stone, and Theophrastus Seuss. Theophrastus was the name of an ancient Greek philosopher that lived in 370 B.C. and was closely related to the works and teachings of Aristotle himself. Knowing this, we can easily make the correlation that Theodor was a well read man and incredibly intelligent.

He wasn’t only a children’s book cartoonist, however. He also did many political cartoons during the time of World War II. If you want to read more about that, and see some of those illustrations, we actually have an entire article about it right here. (Dr. Seuss War Drawings)

Seuss was also a poet and filmmaker among many other amazing talents and honed in skills that he had acquired over the years of his life. He attended Dartmouth College and Lincoln College for school and he eventually graduated with his degree in English Literature with his PhD.

Read Across America Day in 1998 was start by the National Education Association and Dr. Seuss in order to promote reading by children around the nation.

Dr Seuss Birthday Quotes:

You know the man, you know the birthday, now lets hear a little bit of what he has had to say over the years. We are going to take this time to appreciate some of the best quotes from Dr. Seuss in order to pay homage to the man for his birthday.

“Don’t cry because its over. Smile because it happened.”

“Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”

“I like nonsense; it wakes up the brain cells.”

“Only you can control your future.”

“Adults are obsolete children.”

“I meant what I said, and I said what I meant.”

“Fun is good.”

“If we do not choose, we will end up with none.”

“Things are never quite as scary when you’ve got a best friend.”

And the last one is our favorite, because it specifically has to do with birthdays.

“If you’d never been born, then you might be an isn’t! An isn’t has no fun at all. No, he didn’t!”

Now you can see into the mind of this amazing children’s book author and illustrator. We can see that he was very intelligent and driven. Seuss was a goal-oriented man, and he had a great deal of understanding of what made success from a persons own personal beliefs and appreciations.

Interesting Facts About Dr. Seuss:

Dr. Seuss actually had his very first book turned down by publishers more than 25 times before it finally got deemed as printable. This is another one of those stories like Michael Jordan not making his middle school basketball team. The greats just push through the adversity and keep working even when they aren’t seeing the results. If they would have given up when it was difficult, we never would have known any of them and they wouldn’t have succeeded.

Theodor made a documentary with his wife, and it won an award. Not only did it win an award, but it won an Academy Award, and a different one won an Oscar. These were World War II propaganda films similarly to his political cartoons that he had produced.

He started using the name Dr. Seuss as a way to get around being in trouble at school. During the prohibition he was caught with some of his friend’s drinking alcohol, and as a direct result he was kicked off of the college school paper as an editor. In order to get around this, he started using the name T. Seuss as a pen name so he could still write and publish works. This slowly turned into Dr. Seuss over time.

Recap & Summary:

From Dr. Seuss’s children’s books to his association with political cartoons, you got to learn some of the more interesting parts about the man, the myth, the legend. He is well known and read across America still to this very day. This day should be a holiday in my opinion. It should be Dr. Seuss Day and all children should get a break from normal schoolwork in their classes in order to read Dr. Seuss books all day long and learn fun interesting facts about his life and teachings.

This man, born March 2nd, was a happy promoter of neurological stimulating activities for adolescents and a widely celebrated national icon for the same reason.
