The best backroom level is level 0. This is due to the fact that is the first level that was ever made and it is why the entire fictional lore was started. There are no other levels better than the original level.

Level 611 is the most dangerous level in the backrooms. This is due to the large entity that has super strength, speed, hearing, and durability that stands at over 8 feet tall. This entity tracks you down to kill you with a large blade and is in complete control of the entire level.

The Most Dangerous Backrooms Levels:
Level 611
This level is in a classification group known as “hunting grounds”. This is a specific and unique class of level made just for this level. The rating of this level means that you are in constant danger during every moment that you are inside of the level. There are no safe locations inside of this level and an entity of aggressive nature has control for the entire level.
This level is made up of many different hallways from different types of buildings. i.e. one hallway may look to be from an abandoned hospital and another hallway may look like it is from an ancient tomb. All over these hallways’ floors are parts of humans scattered across the ground. This includes intestines, blood, bones, eyeballs, and more. Not only this, but there is also human feces smeared across the walls of the corridors.
The Sentinel, also known as entity 611-1, is the entity in control of this level. As soon as you enter the level this entity will start to track you down, and no matter what you do it will eventually find you. It has super strength, speed, hearing, and durability. It stands over 8 feet tall and has a giant sharp blade at the end of long heavy chains that it uses to attack you. It also is wearing a good deal of metal armor on its body.
Level -4
This level is a wooded area with a barn. All of the objects that you have with you to help you explore areas will stop working when you are in this level. Not only this, but there have been several attempts at creating outposts and all have failed horribly. Each time humans have attempted to make outposts here in this level they have ended up dead as a result.
Each time the settlers were found, they were all standing around their rations in a circle holdings hands. They had died from dehydration and starvation, but none of their food or water had been touched at all.
One group had three people that stayed alive long enough to be found and they reported the other 10 settlers being killed by an entity that they called “the grey one”.
The idea of having food and water and deciding to circle it and hold hands as a group instead of using it is really scary and dangerous. This level has a way of tricking people into not eating or drinking until they die.
The HIVE
The Hive is said to be the most dangerous backrooms level according to the wiki, but we don’t agree with this. The level is made up of flesh covered hollows that have green colored alien looking eggs running up the sides of the walls and pillars. There are constantly new entities being born in this level from these eggs including hounds, death moths, and crawlers to name a few.
The “high queen” is in this level, and there is not a lot of information on this entity other than how it is very dangerous and can control minds.
The Scariest Backrooms Levels:
Level “Run for your life” AKA Level “!”
This level is literally called “run for your life”. How could this not make the list of the scariest backroom levels? The level is essentially an abandoned hospital hallway with nonstop alarms sounding off and creepy dark red lighting. The hallway in this hospital is over 12 miles long and as soon as you enter the level a large group of dangerous creatures starts chasing you.
When you first get into the level, you start in the very middle of the hallway that makes up this level. This means that the only way that you can escape the level is if you outrun the creatures chasing you for 6 miles.
Level -8
Yes, there are negative levels in the backrooms. This level is a mineshaft that is extraordinarily dark. The level often floods completely with rushing water which is obviously super dangerous. There are many entities in this level, and the overall creepiness of being inside of a dark flooded mineshaft makes it a great entry into the list.
Level Scopophobia
In this level, you are unable to run into any other human. The level does not allow for any two humans to come into contact with each other more than having contact through walkie-talkies. After you enter the level you will slowly start hearing knocking on doors and windows and then footsteps behind you. You will then see the pictures on the walls change into pictures of you from inside of the level as if someone were taking pictures of you.
If you hear footsteps, no matter how close they sound, you will never see anyone. However, if you look in any mirror, you will see a dark shadowy hominoid figure standing in the back of the room that you are in starring at you. After this you will start to feel breathing on the back of your neck, and if you turn to look at whatever is breathing on you, you will disappear forever.
Level 32
This level is a never ending dark forest with many human skeletons hanging from the trees. The level is in eternal darkness and is home to an extremely powerful and dangerous entity. This entity shows itself in the form of a woman that does not speak. This woman gets you to follow her deeper into the forest and once you are where she wants you, she changes into a different form. This form is a giant skeleton monster that has total and complete control of the entire level.
If you are not incredibly nice to this entity it can easily kill you in many evil and tortuous ways such as using the surrounding trees to come to life and rip you apart limb by limb.
This level seems like it is straight out of a scary horror movie.
Level 7777
This level is also known as the “Blood Lust Masquerade”. This level is a small 1990s house that has blood covering the walls and floors of the entire inside. There have been DNA tests done on the blood from this level, and it has come back as a perfect match to the people that have once been on the level. Even if these people did not get hurt on the level, the blood still is a match with them.
There is an aspect of this level that makes it easily one of the scariest level that exists inside of the backrooms. This effect is called the 7777 effect. In this effect you will smell rotting flesh as soon as you arrive in the level itself.
If you choose to follow the smell of the rotting flesh you will eventually come to a specific room. Once you enter this room you will feel like you are standing in a pool of blood and/or on top of a pile of flesh. If you look down at what is underneath your feet you will see all of your friends and family un-alived under your feet. This will throw you into a bout of insanity, and once it starts there is no reversing the effects.
The Safest Backrooms Levels:
For this section we will be ranking each level in consideration based on 5 key elements of safety including food sources, entities present, humans present, peacefulness, and the potential for danger. These will be rated on a scale from 1-10 and an overall score will be given to each in order to rank them based upon their results.
Food Sources – This will be graded based on the amount of edible food that is present within the level itself. A score of 1 means no edible food, and a score of 10 means there is no shortage of good food available at any time and it is easy to obtain.
Entities – The number of dangerous entities in the level will drop the score for this category. If there are creatures within the level, but they are mostly safe, the score will only drop a little bit. I.e. if there are many dangerous entities in the level the score will be 1. If there are no entities at all in the level anywhere, the score will be 10.
Humans – This will be rated on the amount of other humans within the level. The more outposts and civilizations created in the level, the safer the level will be for you to stay for a prolonged period of time. If the level has zero humans making outposts or camps, the score will result in a 1. If there are many outposts and camps, and hundreds of people that call the level home happily, the score will be a 10.
Peacefulness – The peacefulness score will be rated on the amount of mental and emotional stress or help present within the level. If there is the chance that you can accidentally hurt yourself somewhere in the level due to negligence on your part, the score will be lower. If there is next to no possible way that you can accidentally hurt yourself more than any other place, the score will be much higher. If the level has no way of you accidentally hurting yourself, and there is a protective entity, the score may be incredibly high in this category.
Potential for Danger – The potential for danger category of scoring is taking into consideration any and all aspects that involve accidentally clipping out of the level and into another, more dangerous, level. The potential to accidentally clip into a different level provides danger to you on a randomized basis. Not only this, but some levels can entrance you into forgetting to eat and/or drink. This can be potentially dangerous if you let it be as well. The more potential for danger, the lower the score. The lower the potential for danger, the higher the score will be.

Total Score – The higher the total score, the safer the level is.

Level 63
Meditation clouds
This level is literally used mostly by people that want to meditate. This level is a seemingly floating clouded level in the sky with bridges and platforms made of wood spread about the level. The sky stays bright and shiny at all times with a crystal-clear blue sky.
The only living organisms in this level are the vines that grow on the walls that add to the Heavenly feel to the level. The are no entities, creatures, or other plants to be seen.
There are no outposts or civilizations on this level, because any of those would ruin the mediation aspect of the area within the backrooms.
The only way to leave this level is if you jump into the clouds underneath the platforms. When you do this you will fall unconscious and you will wake up in a random level that is safe for you. This makes the potential for accidental danger extremely low.

Level 9.1
The crimson Forrest
This level is a forest that has a chilled fog in the air and is showered in a crimson red light. The ground is not flat, and thus it is difficult to traverse in some parts of the level. Once you get used to this, it will become easier to move about. The temperature is constantly around 50 degree Fahrenheit, so it is a little bit chilly.
There is safe water that you can drink in this forest level, and there are also plants in which you can eat. Not only this, but there are creatures that are similar to animals on earth. While some of these are creatures that eat only plants, there are also some that are comparable to bears, wolves, and more in the predatory category. This adds a certain level of dangerous opportunity for you, but these creatures are not necessarily out to get humans any more than an animal on Earth would be.
While there are people, outposts, and communities on this level; there is no connection to the other levels and outside world. The are around a couple hundred people in this level that call it home.
The only way to leave the level is through a dangerous field of crops with many vicious entities lurking within. This, coupled with the red lighting over the entire level places this entry lower on the list.
In order to enter the level, you have to also make that same dangerous journey through the fields in the opposite direction of the red light source.

Level 178
Like a spa resort in Japan
This level is a huge Japanese style house with many hallways and rooms within. There are even areas that are outside of the house such as an open air courtyard. There are no dangerous entities within this level. There are clothes, almond waters, and normal food found within several different rooms of the house. There are even pantries filled full of supplies that you can find within this level. There are many other humans here in this level, and even a community that calls this level home.
There are even bathrooms, complete with toilets and showers. The overall set up of the level is peaceful and relaxing, much like a spa resort. There are household appliances that you can use to make food and drinks as well as beds to sleep in.
All of this being said, there are several ways in which you can accidently no-clip into another level. This adds a higher potential for danger as you may find yourself in a dangerous level all of the sudden when you just wanted to stay where you were.

Level 39
Enchanted Forrest
It can be a little bit dangerous because you can get entranced into a peaceful state of mind and forget to eat, drink, or sleep. This is a forest with winding and twisting paths through fields of trees. The level is at a never-ending state of dusk, and thus provides an added sense of peace and relaxation. The weather is nearly perfect at all times in this level as well. The effects of the level lulling you into a peaceful state of bliss and forgetting to eat, drink, or sleep is stronger towards the center of the level itself.
On the outside edges of this level, there is a location called “the borders”. It is colder here, darker, and dangerous as well. There are extremely strong winds, lighting strikes, and tornadoes in the borders.
There does not seem to be any outposts or humans that have started communities or tribes within this level. This makes for an extreme lack of human habitation and contact while in this level.

Level 48
The never-ending beach.
This level is an infinite beach that is constantly in a state of sunset. The weather is as close to perfect as you could hope for, and there is also a forest next to the beach. Not only this, but there are several luxury hotels and houses on this level. These hotels and houses are fully furnished, and even have AC and average household appliances. It seems as if you find yourself in this level, you may be able to make it home without too much changed from the outside world.
There are plenty of edible plants and vegetation on this level, and this means that there is food for you to find and eat all over the level. While this food may not be the processed food that you are used to, it is edible and sustaining nourishment that will help you stay alive for a long time.
There are creatures that closely resemble animals on Earth, and they are mostly herbivores. These creatures are almost entirely safe to humans, and are mostly only concerned with eating vegetation.
There are a group of farmers in this level numbering in the low hundreds. Some have estimated the numbers to be around 300 individuals within this farming tribe. They plant and harvest food and crops and they also make juices from the fruits on this level. The farmers offer these foods and drinks for sale in their shops.
There are several ways to get into this level, and there are also about a handful of ways that you can exit the level as well. A couple of the ways that you can exit the level can be done on accident which adds a certain level of danger that would not otherwise be there.

Level 149
The coconut isles.
This level is made of floating tropical islands and is inhabited by a well known tribe of humans. The soil in this level is extremely rich, and thus can grow many different types of plants which sustains life on the islands. There are small animals, but no other entities other than plants and humans reside on the islands.
While the islands themselves are peaceful in nature, the edges of the islands can be dangerous and bring unrest to those that wonder of towards them. There is said to be scary and uneasy humming noises around the edges of the islands, so it is best to stay towards the middles of the islands.
In the same respect, if someone wonders off the edge of the islands, they will fall off due to the fact that they are floating in the air. This, obviously, poses a dangerous situation that may arise.

Level 27
Bunker Springs
This level is at the bottom of the list due to its deceiving nature of being a peaceful and safe place to be. While there are no entities in this level, there are also no plants or living organisms whatsoever. This level is a hot spring inside of a cave, which includes the addition of a claustrophobic feel to the level if you are prone to receiving those feelings from similar locations. While the spring itself is healing and peaceful in nature, the overall level is not the safest and most positive level on this list. Due to the lack of living organisms, this level is hardly considered to be completely habitable. While it is a habitable level, it is not considered one of the more widely used for this purpose, as its small size and lack of food sources do not lend themselves to helping this be a place to stay for any extended period of time.

The Best Backrooms Levels:
Level 9
The suburbs
This level is incredibly unsafe. This level is a never-ending neighborhood that is in eternal night time. At times, you will actually be able to see two houses that have glitched into each other. On the actual streets of this suburb is where the creatures and entities are.
Most of the average entities can be found within this level, such as wretches, hounds, smilers, and death rats.
The neighborhood watch is an entity that looks like a huge eye floating in the air. This entity, Rome is the streets within level 9.
Another creature that is found within this level is called the mangled. These entities are known to be just over 50 feet tall.
The inside of some of these houses found within the neighborhoods are fully furnished and actually have food and drinks. Other houses are not furnished at all and are completely empty.
Level 5
Terror hotel
There are not as many entities here, as there are, and some of the other levels. However, this level is still considered to be unsafe. While it is not to be specifically incredibly unsafe, it is not considered safe for humans to inhabit.
Level 5 may be made most famous by “The Beast of Level 5”.
This is a nice hotel from around the early 1900s and is incredibly clean with smooth music playing in the background. A lot of the rooms in this hotel are locked and you are unable to enter them, but others are unlocked and have beds and chairs inside of them.
There are actually hotel services done by humans in this level, and there is food offered as well as room service.
This level is by no means safe, but there are some positives to this level.
The uniqueness and creativity of this concept make it a great entry into this list. Not only this, but the over all feel to the level is great. I love the old jazzy hotel feel with the 1900s style furniture and music playing.
Level 0
The first level and original level
This is the very first level ever made in the backrooms and this is the one that everyone thinks of when they think of the backrooms lore. Being that this is the original level, it cannot be placed very low on the list of best overall levels. This is the long, seemingly endless, hallways with a yellow color under the dimly light fluorescent lights on the ceilings. This type of area is known as a liminal area, and it is what kick started the entire fictional story line. For this reason, it makes its way up to the top of the list for the best backrooms levels.
This is essentially the lobby for the backrooms as it is inhabited by many M.E.G. operatives and humans. It is a sort of starting location and base of operations in a way.
Level 7
Ocean with carpet
This level has 2 main areas, and they are almost completely under water. The entrance area is a small office that has water on the ground, and the main area is essentially a vast open ocean like area. The gravity is greater than it is on Earth, which makes it more difficult to traverse through the level.
While no one has ever gotten to the bottom of the level, there have been carpet fibers found that suggest that the ground of the level is made of carpet. So essentially this is an ocean with carpet for its ground.
This is so unique and creative and certainly is one of the coolest levels in the entire backrooms lore.
Level 4
Almond water building
This level is considered to be safe and has next to no entities at all. There are tons of people in this level at all times, and it is easy to enter and exit from the level. This is the level in which the second largest M.E.G. base is.
The obvious best part about this level is the fact that there are a seemingly endless number of almond water bottles that you can obtain from this level. They are found all across the level in many different ways, and they seem to replenish their storage after they have been taken and consumed.
The concept of a level with infinite resources, and essentially made only for this, is actually very unique and interesting.
Level 6
Pitch black
In this level, there re no lights whatsoever. Even if you have a flashlight or a fire there will still be no light emitted from these sources. There seems to be some sort of photon reduction done within the level by way of an unknown mysterious force.
The fact that the level is completely dark, no matter what you do, it is actually very unique and creative in its approach. Not only is there no light available, but there are no audible capabilities as well. This is to say that if you try to talk or scream, no sound will actually come out. Not only this, but if something else is near you, it will not make any noise to your ears either.
This is what some of the scariest nightmares are made of. If you find yourself in this level for a prolonged period of time, you can actually start to have auditory hallucinations. It is kind of like being in a sensory deprivation tank.
How Many Backrooms Levels are There?:
There is an unlimited amount of Backrooms levels as far as anyone can currently tell. There is a base amount of 100 levels, but there are also levels with decimal point (such as level 9.1) and negative levels. All of this is not even mentioning that there are literally levels with the infinity symbol on them.
So, while there are 100 main levels, there are an unlimited number of total levels in the Backrooms.
Inside the Backrooms Levels:
There are many found footage fandom videos for you to watch on YouTube so you can get a better look inside of the backrooms. There are also Wikidot pages and other wiki fandom websites that offer extensive information and images in order to get a better look at the many different backrooms levels that there are.
The first 100 levels are the normal levels that are pretty well known, but there are a seemingly infinite number of levels. Not only this, but they seem to be ever growing as well. This means that it is nearly impossible to be able to see inside of every level that there is.
Once you enter into the backrooms it is incredibly difficult to escape them. There is no real guide or system in place in order to escape the backrooms, but there are many pieces of knowledge about the different areas that you can use in order to better give yourself a chance at escaping one day.
Though, for most, escaping provides a head full of pipe dreams. This is due to the seemingly endless number of levels and immense amounts of danger lurking around every corner.
